Open Compliance Setup in BrokerPlus

Compliance setup asks which provinces your brokerage operates in, and the answer is stored on the brokerage's compliance program. It is a brokerage-level fact, not a per-deal one: an individual deal's own disclosure obligations are worked out from the subject property's province regardless of what you declare here. What operating provinces actually feeds is the pieces of the program that describe the firm as a whole, plus a small number of province-gated features.

When You'd Use This

Set your operating provinces on the second step of compliance setup, before activation. The wizard will not let you continue past this step without at least one province selected, and activation is refused for the same reason if it somehow gets cleared. Come back to the same step whenever the brokerage starts writing business in a province it did not previously operate in.

Selecting Your Provinces

Open Where does your brokerage operate? in the setup wizard. Tap every province the brokerage operates in, or use Select all to take every province at once and Clear all to start over. Each province is a toggle, so add and remove freely before moving on - the count of provinces selected updates as you go. Continue stays disabled until at least one is picked, and going back to a prior step does not clear your selection.

What Operating Provinces Feeds

The list is printed into the brokerage's regulator-facing package and compliance exports, so a regulator reading the program record sees exactly where the firm says it does business. It also gates a handful of province-specific features outright: BC's Land Owner Transparency Registry checklist on a contact refuses to open unless BC is on the brokerage's list, on the basis that LOTR applies only to BC-operating brokerages. What it does not do is decide which statutory disclosures a given deal owes - that calculation reads the deal's own subject property province, not this list.

What to Watch Out For

  • Operating provinces is a brokerage fact, not a personal one. An individual broker records where they personally hold a licence separately, on their own profile, and the two lists can disagree - a brokerage can operate in a province where a particular broker on the team is not licensed.
  • Quebec appears in the picker, but BrokerPlus does not yet carry a Quebec disclosure rule pack, and several territories are guidance-only rather than blocking. Selecting one records the brokerage's operations honestly; it does not mean every rule for that province is enforced yet.
  • Adding a province here does not retroactively change anything on a deal already in progress. A deal's disclosure requirements are still driven by where the subject property sits, so this step is about the brokerage's own record, not a switch that reaches into open files.

What to Do Next

  • Appoint Your Compliance Officers if you haven't yet - it's the step before provinces in setup.
  • Record Your Licence Class to log where you personally hold a licence.
  • Send the Disclosures a Deal Requires to see how a deal's own province drives what it owes.
  • Adjust the Rules for a Province if a specific province's requirements need a brokerage-specific change.

Keeps track of what you have already been through.
