A question your assistant can answer in general is often a question you actually want answered about one specific file. Attaching a resource is how you say which one.
Attaching a Record to a Question
Below the composer sits an attach control. Open it and a small picker slides up with a search field and, until you type or pick a category, a list of the five kinds of thing you can attach. Search narrows to matches as you type, or pick a category first to search inside just that kind. Picking a result attaches it and closes the picker, ready for the question you type next.
The Five Things You Can Attach
You can pin a deal, a contact, a task, a document, or an email thread. Each shows as a small chip above the composer once attached, so you can see at a glance what your assistant will treat as "this file" before you send anything. Attach more than one when a question genuinely spans them - a contact and the deal they're on, say - and it reads all of them together.
Asking From Inside a Deal
Open the chat pane from a deal page and that deal is pinned automatically, with no picker needed. You'll see its chip waiting above the composer the moment the pane opens. Ask "what's still outstanding on this file" or "draft a follow-up to the borrower" and it already knows which deal you mean, because you're looking at it.
Removing Something You Attached
Click the small close mark on a chip to unstage it before you send. Nothing is removed once a question has gone out - the attachment traveled with that message, and unstaging only affects what the next one carries. Attachments don't carry forward from one conversation to the next either, so opening a fresh chat starts with nothing pinned unless you're on a page that pins one for you.
Why Context Changes the Answer
Without an attachment, a question like "what's missing" is answered against your book in general - it has to guess or ask which file you mean, or answer too broadly to be useful. With a deal attached, the same question comes back specific: the conditions still open on that file, the document still missing, the task still outstanding. Attaching a contact instead of a deal changes what it reaches for too - their own notes and activity rather than one mortgage file - so pick the resource that actually matches what you're asking about, not just the one that's open in another tab.
What to Do Next
- Ask Your Assistant a Question for how a plain question becomes a card.
- Have It Show You Where Something Is when the question is about the product rather than a file.
- Meet Your Assistant for what it sees automatically, with or without an attachment.
