Your assistant does not need the app open to hear from you. Once your mobile number is verified, a plain text message reaches it the same as typing in the chat pane, from whatever phone is in your hand.
Setting Up Text Messaging
Under Settings > Assistant, the texting card offers Set up. Enter your mobile number and your assistant sends a six-digit code by text to confirm it is really yours before anything is linked.
Verifying Your Mobile Number
Enter the code within ten minutes of it arriving, or request a new one. Five wrong tries locks that code out, and a fresh one clears the count. Once it checks out, your number is saved and texting turns on right away - there is no separate step afterward.
The Number You Text
There is one number for reaching your assistant this way, the same one for every broker on BrokerPlus; the settings card shows it once you are verified. It answers whoever is texting by matching the mobile number the message came from against your own verified one, so texting from an unverified phone gets a one-time reply pointing back to this settings page instead of silence.
What It Can Do Over Text
A text message reaches the same assistant, but not the same conversation. Texting keeps a short rolling memory of its own, separate from the chat pane's history, so it can follow a back-and-forth over a few messages without carrying in everything you have discussed there, and without your texts showing up in the chat switcher. Treat it as a second, genuinely separate way to reach your assistant rather than another window onto the one you already have open. Replies are also kept shorter, since they are landing as a text rather than a card in a pane.
Turning It Off or Removing Your Number
The switch on the same card turns texting off without losing your verified number, useful if you just want quiet for a while - flip it back on and nothing needs re-verifying. This is entirely separate from two-factor authentication: turning either one off never touches the other, because they are stored against different columns on your account. Remove clears your number outright and asks you to confirm first; after that, the number is free for someone else to verify and claim.
