Beyond what you tell your assistant directly, it builds a short profile of how you work on its own, and reads it on every run. Settings > Assistant shows you exactly what that profile says, and lets you correct or clear it.
Where the Profile Comes From
The first time you connect your email, your assistant reads a sample of your mailbox once and writes a short summary of what it found: how you greet people and sign off, how formal you write, and a few recurring patterns worth remembering. You can watch this happen - a short animation walks through connecting, scanning, grouping threads, analyzing, and storing, with real finds from your mailbox appearing as it goes.
What the First Mailbox Scan Reads
It works from a sample of your sent mail plus the outside addresses you correspond with most, never your entire history. From that it draws a few things: your writing voice, up to three recurring message patterns worth treating as a habit, and the lenders you deal with most often, judged by how frequently their domains turn up in your mail. What it stores in the profile itself is a compact summary of who you are and how you work; the more specific patterns it noticed sit alongside it, available to your assistant when relevant rather than crowding the summary.
Editing or Clearing the Profile
The profile is a plain text box on Settings > Assistant, and it is yours to change. Edit it directly whenever it drifts from how you actually work, or clear it out and start over. Nothing saves until you press Save, so you can try a rewrite and back out with Reset before it takes hold.
Facts Against Instructions
This differs from what you write yourself under Your Instructions: an instruction is a rule you deliberately typed, always read in full for whatever it applies to. The profile is the opposite, facts your assistant noticed on its own rather than rules you handed it, and it is read as background on every run rather than triggered by a topic. Where the two disagree, your instructions decide the behaviour; the profile only ever describes you.
Why the Scan Only Runs Once
The mailbox scan runs the first time, and only the first time. Once it has seeded your profile, reconnecting or resyncing your email will not run it again, and there is no button to trigger a rescan. From that point on, keeping the profile current is a manual edit, not something that happens quietly in the background on its own - which is exactly why it is worth checking back on once your habits change.
