5:07What Moving a Number Involves
Your clients keep calling the same number. Calls, texts, and voicemail all land in BrokerPlus once the move completes, and most transfers take one to seven business days. Click Move My Number Over, enter the number, and BrokerPlus checks with the network whether it can be moved at all before anything starts.
Gather What Your Current Provider Needs
Say who holds the number today, Dialpad, RingCentral, or someone else, and whether it is the only number on that account or others stay behind with your old provider. BrokerPlus shows exactly what that provider needs from you, gathered from its own porting rules, plus a link to where you find each item. If it is not the only number, choose whether the rest stay with your old provider or move to a new billing number there.
Fill In the Transfer and Sign the Letter
Copy the account holder name, authorized person, billing telephone number, account number, and PIN straight off your current bill, along with the service address. RingCentral requires a Super Admin as the authorized person and uses 0000 as its PIN; Dialpad calls the account number your Company ID and issues the PIN at dialpad.com/portout. BrokerPlus then drafts a letter of authorization from those details, which you read and sign electronically in a panel that opens over the transfer. Your carrier will not release the number without it. Upload your latest bill as proof, and fill in or upload anything else your specific carrier still asks for.
Track the Transfer and Fix What Your Carrier Sends Back
Once everything above is complete, send it to your provider. Its progress moves through details and paperwork, sent to your provider, a confirmed switchover date, then calls live in BrokerPlus. If your carrier rejects something, the transfer flags exactly what to fix and lets you message the transfer team directly; correcting it and resubmitting is normal. When your carrier opens a window to switch over, pick a time from what it offers; calls move within a few minutes of that moment.
Keep Your Old Service Running Until Calls Land Here
Do not cancel or disconnect your old phone service until you see calls arriving in BrokerPlus. Closing the old account early can cut off your number before the move finishes, with nobody able to reach you either way.
Cancel a Transfer
Cancel this transfer, inside the same panel, stops the move and leaves the number with your current provider. It works any time before the number actually moves; once it is live in BrokerPlus, the transfer is done and there is nothing left to cancel.
