A text a client did not ask for is what gets a number flagged as spam, so BrokerPlus honours a STOP reply completely and instantly. Here is what changes when a client opts out, and how they turn texting back on.

5:07What a STOP Reply Does
When a client replies STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT) to any text from your number, BrokerPlus turns off texting to that number immediately. It is a single on or off switch, with no categories and no partial opt-out. The moment the reply arrives, that number is closed to texting from your brokerage until the client asks to reopen it.
Why It Stops Every Text
The switch does not care how a text was going to be sent. A message you type by hand, an automated follow-up, a campaign, and a receptionist confirmation are all blocked the same way, because a STOP reply is a fact about the number, not a preference about one kind of message. Carriers enforce it regardless of what BrokerPlus does, so honouring it everywhere is what keeps a text from bouncing back as a provider rejection you cannot read or act on.
A queued send to an opted-out number is skipped rather than retried. A campaign or automation logs it as suppressed and moves on, and everyone else on the send still goes out.
What You See When You Try to Text Them
Try to send a hand-typed text to a number that opted out, and BrokerPlus refuses the send before it reaches the carrier.
This number replied STOP to texts
They have to reply START before you can text them again.
How a Client Turns Texting Back On
A client turns texting back on themselves, by replying START or UNSTOP to your number. The switch flips back on the moment that reply arrives, and you can text them again right away. There is nothing to reset on your side, and nothing that requires them to call in or fill out a form.
Texting Against Email Preferences
SMS consent and email consent are two separate systems, and a change to one says nothing about the other. A client who texts STOP has only turned off texting. Their email preferences, marketing, equity reports, and messages about their own file, are untouched. A client who unsubscribes from your marketing emails can still be texted normally, until they reply STOP on that channel too.
