Change a Task After You File It

Rename it, hand it to somebody else, or re-file it against the right record.

Open Tasks in BrokerPlus

Open a task and everything about it stays editable until it is completed or cancelled: the title, the details, who holds it, and what record it is filed against.

Renaming a Task and Rewriting Its Details

Click the title to rename it in place. It saves the moment you press Enter or click away, and Escape backs out of an edit you did not mean to start. The description works the same way: click into it, rewrite it, and it saves on blur. Titles run up to 300 characters and the description up to 8,000, so there is room to leave context an assignee will actually need.

Handing It to Somebody Else

The assignee picker only lists people eligible for this particular task, active members of the team the task or its linked deal belongs to, not your whole organization. Pick a name and BrokerPlus reassigns the task and notifies that person. Picking the same assignee back does not re-run that eligibility check or send a fresh notification, which is what lets a title or priority edit go through even if the standing assignee would no longer qualify for a brand-new assignment.

Changing Priority and Category

Priority is a four-level pill, Critical down to Low, and changing it moves the task's rank in the queue immediately rather than just relabeling the row. Category defaults from the task's type, lead and marketing, underwriting, broker, fulfillment, client experience, compliance, or admin, but you can override it from the same row, including with one of your team's own categories. Only your team's broker can add, rename, hide or delete custom categories (up to a maximum of 25). If one of your team's custom categories is later deleted, the task goes back to whatever category its type implies on its own.

Moving It to a Different Deal or Contact

A task links to one deal or one contact at a time, never both. Open the link picker in the header and search across deals and contacts together, by reference number or by name, and picking either side clears the other automatically. Clearing the link altogether removes both, which is useful for a task that started against a deal but turned out to be personal follow-up instead.

What a View-Only Teammate Sees Instead

A view-only teammate opens the same panel and reads the same fields, but every control that would change something is gone: no rename, no editable description, no priority or category picker, no reassignment, and no link picker. They can see exactly what a task says and who holds it, and that is the full extent of it.
