A file that is wrong, too old or unreadable does not need deleting and re-asking from scratch. Sending it back with a note keeps the same request open and tells your client exactly what to fix.
Ask From the Document Preview
Open a file you have already received and, when it can still be asked for again, Request Changes sits in the header beside it. Selecting it opens a note field with that one file already listed.
Ask by Dragging It Back to Requested
On a deal's documents board, drag a file from Received or Verified back onto the Requested column, or select several files at once and choose Request Changes from the toolbar. Both paths open the same window, and every file you dropped together goes out as one ask carrying one note.
Write the Note the Client Reads
Say exactly what needs to change: the wrong month, a page that did not scan, a statement close to expiring. What you type here appears in the email your client gets and on the page where they upload again. Leave it blank and the ask still goes out, with a plain line saying you asked for a new copy.
What the Client Gets
This is a rejection with a note, not a delete-and-re-ask. The file is marked rejected and stays on the deal, and the item reopens on your client's own list: your note shows up in its own line, and uploading a replacement answers it on its own, with nothing else to mark done. Sending this reopens the round it belongs to, so the request will not show as finished again until the new copy arrives. On your side, the header carries a small count of how many of these are still sitting with your client, right beside the badge that says the request is awaiting them.
Withdraw an Ask
Change your mind before your client acts on it: open the Requested column and remove the card the same way you would any other outstanding ask. If it carried a note, that ask closes and stops chasing your client. If they already sent a replacement, withdrawing does nothing to the copy that already arrived.
