A failed sign-in almost always comes down to one of a handful of causes. Work through them in order and stop as soon as one fixes it, rather than retrying the same password five times.
Check the Address You Are Using
The most common cause is not the password at all. Confirm you are typing the exact address your invite or your admin used, not a personal address or a variant of your work one. A brokerage can have several people with similar names, and it is easy to type the wrong colleague's address by habit.
Reset Your Password
If the address is right and the password still fails, select Forgot password? on the sign-in page. Enter your email and BrokerPlus sends a reset link if an account exists for it. It always shows the same confirmation either way, so this step never confirms whether an address has an account. Follow the emailed link, choose a new password of at least 10 characters with a letter and a number, and confirm it. Signing in again with the new password also closes out any old session on other devices or tabs, so expect to be signed out anywhere else you were logged in.
A reset link that says expired or invalid just needs a fresh one from the same Forgot password? page.
When the Second Step Is the Blocker
Once your password is accepted, an account with two-factor authentication turned on asks for a second step: a code from an authenticator app, or a one-time code sent by text or email, depending on which method you enrolled. If that code will not arrive or you no longer have the device, this second step is what is actually stopping you, not your password. A code that has not shown up yet can be resent from the same screen.
Use a Backup Code
Every method above also offers Use a backup code instead. Enter one of the one-time codes you saved when you first set up two-factor authentication; each one works once. If you cannot find your backup codes and have also lost the device or number your codes were tied to, this route is closed and you will need your admin.
When an Invitation Was Never Accepted
If you were invited to a brokerage but have never signed in before, there is no password to reset yet. Look for the accept-invite link in your invitation email instead of using the regular sign-in page; it opens with your email already filled in and lets you set your name and a password for the first time. An invite link that reports itself invalid or expired usually means it was already used, or it has simply expired, and asking whoever invited you for a fresh one is the fix.
When to Ask Your Admin
If you have confirmed the address, reset your password, worked through the second step, and tried a backup code with no luck, your admin is the next step. They cannot see or reset your password directly, but they can confirm your account exists, resend an invite that never landed, or check whether your two-factor method needs clearing so you can re-enroll.
What to Do Next
- Protect your account with two-factor authentication once you are back in, so the next sign-in goes smoothly.
- Invite your team covers resending or replacing an invite from the admin side.
