Log a Referral You Sent

Record a client you introduced to a partner so the relationship shows what you send, not only what you receive.

Open Referral Partners in BrokerPlus

When you send a client to a partner, a realtor for instance, BrokerPlus has no way to see what happens next; only you know an introduction was made. Logging it is what makes that half of the relationship visible at all.

Why Outbound Referrals Are Logged by Hand

An inbound referral is easy to capture automatically: whoever you name as a contact's referrer gets credited the moment you set it, because that name lives on the contact record from then on. An outbound referral has no equivalent trigger, since the introduction happens outside BrokerPlus entirely, in a phone call or an email you send yourself. No inbound rule can run in reverse, so logging it by hand is the only way it ever gets recorded.

Logging the Introduction

From the Partners page, open Log a Referral You Sent. Search for the partner you introduced someone to, then search for the client you sent them - either search can add a new contact on the spot if the person is not in your CRM yet. Add a note if there is context worth remembering, such as which listing or which office. Save it, and the introduction is recorded against both the partner and the client. Logging the same pair again, say after a second conversation, updates the existing record rather than creating a duplicate.

Where It Shows on the Partners Page

Every partner's row on the Partners page carries two separate counts, side by side: what they have sent you, and what you have sent them. Logging an introduction is what populates that second count; without it, the row only ever shows one direction of the relationship. Where the introduction is attached to a deal, its value is drawn from the property's price rather than your loan amount, because that is what a realtor's commission is actually a percentage of.

What Counts as Business They Sent You

A partner's worth to you is read from both directions at once - what they sent, against what you sent back - so the figure only means something once both halves are populated. Sending a client to a partner and never logging it makes a genuinely two-way relationship look one-sided in your own numbers. Log it on the day it happens rather than trying to reconstruct a year of introductions from memory later.
