Open Tools > Calculators > Strategy Analysis, or open it from a client's refinance panel with Compare, to model up to eight mortgage options side by side. Like every calculator, this is a scratchpad: nothing typed here writes back to a deal.
Building the Board
Every strategy starts with two cards, Their offer and Your strategy, and each can be renamed. Add up to eight cards with Add option in the toolbar.
Each card takes a lender, matched against BrokerPlus's lender list as you type or left as free text, and once a lender resolves, an optional product. Below that sits the balance, rate, compounding, amortization, term, and payment frequency.
A card left at its seed values reads as greyed placeholders, not real numbers, until you type into it, so a blank card is never mistaken for a filled one.
Opened from Compare on a refinance panel, the two starting cards fill in automatically: the client's existing mortgage on one side, the option you found them on the other, with the client's name attached.
Setting the Baseline
One card is the baseline, and every other card's payment, interest over the term, and balance at renewal are measured against it. Click Set baseline on any card to make it the anchor; it moves to the front and is labeled.
Deltas only appear once the baseline itself is filled in, since an untouched baseline would otherwise compare real numbers against seed examples.
A board opened from Compare can be walked back with Reset to original, which restores the two original cards to what the client's file says. Any option added afterward is left alone.
Holding Every Option at the Same Payment
Open Options in the toolbar and turn on Match payment to hold every card at one payment, either the baseline's own derived payment or a target you type in. With match on, amortization stops being an input on each card and becomes the result.
Match payment is board-wide. A single card can also pin its own fixed payment regardless of match mode: its payment field shows the auto-calculated amount as a placeholder, and typing a number overrides it there alone.
Readvanceable Products and Lines of Credit
Any card can be flagged as a readvanceable product, such as a Scotia STEP or Manulife One, where the mortgage and a revolving line of credit share one registered charge, so principal paid down frees credit room. Turning it on for one card opens the same blank section on every other card too, so the cards stay the same height; editing it is what commits a real configuration.
The fields are property value, the combined limit as a percent of that value, the line's rate, and what is currently drawn. The card then shows the credit room that option would carry at renewal.
Saving and Exporting the Analysis
Save stores the analysis under a title and client name; reopen or delete a saved one from the History menu.
Preview & export opens the client-facing report, painted in your brokerage's branding, before anything leaves the screen. Toggle off any section the client does not need; only options with real numbers show up.
Once at least two options carry a lender, Activate Deal Defender turns on in the toolbar.
What to Do Next
With two or more options filled in, use Run Deal Defender to turn the board into a written note that argues your recommendation. To size what a purchase would carry instead, see Build a Mortgage Plan.
