Build a Custom Report

Assemble a client report section by section and preview it against a real deal.

Open Report Builder in BrokerPlus

The report builder lets you stack sections onto a single-column canvas, preview them against a real deal's live numbers, and save the layout as a template you can reuse or send in bulk.

When You'd Use This

Reach for this whenever the built-in equity, renewal, or refinance layouts don't quite fit what a client needs to see. Maybe you want an offer comparison next to a payment breakdown, or a renewal review without the disclaimer section. Anyone on the team can build and save a report; the templates live at the organization level, so a layout one broker builds shows up for everyone.

Start From a Preset or Blank

Open Tools > Report Builder. You'll land on a set of presets: Equity report, Renewal review, Refinance opportunity, and a few others, each a complete report brokers actually send, laid out to match the monthly equity report email. Pick one to load its sections, or select Start blank instead to build from nothing.

Add and Configure Sections

The left palette groups every widget by category: Narrative, Property & equity, Mortgage, Opportunity, Application, and Closing costs. Search by name or description, or scroll. Selecting a widget adds it to the bottom of your report.

Every section in the middle column can be reordered by dragging its grip handle, expanded to reveal its configuration panel (toggles for what to show, a heading override, and free text for narrative widgets like the intro letter or broker call-to-action), hidden without removing it, duplicated, or removed outright.

Toggles default to on

Every show/hide toggle starts on. A widget straight off the palette renders with sensible defaults, so you're turning things off rather than hunting for what to turn on.

Narrative sections that accept free text support insertable tokens, listed under Insert a value with a token below the text box, so a line like the client's name or property address fills in automatically per deal.

Preview Against a Deal

Use the deal picker in the header to attach an active deal. The preview panel renders every visible section with that deal's real numbers: property value, equity, mortgage terms, opportunity math, all pulled live rather than frozen at save time. A widget with nothing to show for that deal explains why instead of just disappearing.

Saving and Reusing a Template

Give the report a name in the field at the top left, then select Save. A report loaded from a saved template updates in place; a new one gets created. Open Templates to load an existing one, or delete one from that same menu. Once a template is saved, Generate for many runs it across a batch of deals in one pass.

Common Gotchas

  • A report with zero sections can't be saved or generated. Add at least one widget first.
  • Unsaved changes show a small "Unsaved" indicator next to the report name. Switching templates or starting blank without saving first discards those edits.
  • The preview and the generated report both pull live deal data, so a change to the deal (a new value, an updated rate) shows up the next time you open the report rather than requiring you to rebuild anything.

What to Do Next

  • Build a Consolidation Report for the multi-debt summary layout instead of a single-record report.
  • Generate Reports in Bulk once you have a template you want to run across many deals at once.
  • Create an Equity Report if you just want the standard monthly equity layout without customizing it.

Keeps track of what you have already been through.
