Tags are BrokerPlus's own layer on top of your mail, separate from your mailbox's folders. Most arrive automatically as mail comes in, and you can add your own to sort your inbox the way you actually work.

5:12The Tags That Arrive on Their Own
Every incoming email is read and assigned exactly one tag, picked from your organization's own list based on what each tag's description says it covers. Mail from a known lender domain is tagged Lender regardless of what it says, and anything that fits nothing else falls to a fallback tag rather than going untagged. Reclassifying a message only replaces the tag it applied itself, so a tag you added by hand stays put.
Filter the Inbox by Tag
Click a tag beside the search box to filter your thread list down to messages carrying it, alongside any folder, mailbox, or search you already have set. Clear it to see everything again.
Create Your Own Tag
Open Manage tags from the tag picker on any thread, then New tag. Give it a name and a colour, and it is ready to apply by hand from the same picker, one thread or a whole selection at a time.
Applying a tag to several threads
Open the tag picker with more than one thread selected and a tag already on every one of them comes off; anything else goes on. A tag on only some of the selection shows a partial mark until you resolve it.
Why the Description Matters
A tag's description is what decides where incoming mail lands, not just what the label says to a person reading the list. Write it as a short instruction, describing what the tag is for, and mail that matches it will keep landing there without you touching a thing. A vague or empty description leaves the classifier guessing, which is what pushes borderline mail to the fallback tag instead.
Change or Remove a Tag
Edit a tag's name, description, or colour from Manage tags at any time; the change applies going forward; it does not retag mail already sorted. Delete a tag you no longer need the same way, unless it is one of the fallback tags BrokerPlus relies on to hold everything else. Removing a tag clears it from every thread that carried it.
