A thread linked to the right deal shows up in that deal's activity timeline, alongside every call, note and document on the file. A thread linked to the wrong one, or to none at all, is a conversation nobody looking at the deal will ever see.

5:12How a Thread Finds Its Deal
BrokerPlus links most threads for you before you ever open them. A message whose subject carries a deal's reference number links to that deal automatically. Failing that, if the contact on the thread has exactly one active deal, BrokerPlus links to that one, on the reasoning that there was nothing else it could be. Either way, the thread shows a small auto-linked marker so you know BrokerPlus made the call rather than you.
Link a Thread Yourself
Open a thread and use the deal control above the message, or the Other deals section of the details panel, to search for and pick a deal directly. This is what you reach for when a contact has more than one active file and BrokerPlus could not guess, or when the auto-link picked the wrong one.
Unlink a Thread
The same control offers Unlink from deal. Unlinking removes the connection without deleting anything from either side, the deal loses this conversation from its timeline and the thread goes back to carrying no deal at all, ready to be linked somewhere else.
Which Messages the Link Reaches
Linking a thread files every message in the conversation as it stands right now. It is a one-time filing action, not a standing rule for the conversation. A new message that arrives on the same thread afterwards is filed on its own from the composer, so if you want it on the same deal, it needs its own deal reference or your own pick, exactly like the thread's first message did.
Linking Against Sending From a Deal
Linking a thread and choosing which deal a message sends from are two separate decisions, and it is worth keeping them apart. Linking decides which deal's activity timeline sees this conversation, after the fact, for a thread that already exists. Which deal a message is sent from is set in the composer, at the moment you write it, and it is what lets BrokerPlus resolve tokens and thread the message onto that deal's parties. You can write and send an email tied to one deal, and later relink the reply thread it started to a different one, if it turns out the conversation was really about something else.
