A deal's activity trail is the one place that shows everything that has touched a file: every email and text sent or received, every call and voicemail, every note a teammate left, and every system change worth remembering. It lives on the Overview tab rather than a section of its own, and the old link to a separate activity page now lands you right back there.
What the Timeline Records
Three kinds of row are merged together and sorted newest first. Correspondence covers every channel: email, text, call, voicemail and meeting. Notes are what your team writes to each other about the file. Updates are the system events worth keeping, such as a stage move, a lender change, a checklist step ticked, a submission sent or a condition satisfied, plus a commission change if you're allowed to see commission on this deal. A draft that hasn't gone out yet never appears here, and neither does the detailed run log for anything handled automatically, which lives on its own page. Mixing either into a record of what actually happened made the trail harder to trust.
Filtering It Down
Pills across the top narrow the feed to All, Messages, Calls, Notes or Updates. Calls also catches voicemails, since a voicemail is a call the borrower didn't pick up for. The feed opens on the five most recent rows, and Show More reveals the rest without leaving the page.
Messages and Notes Against System Events
A message or a note is the thing itself, so it opens in place. An email keeps the inbox's own thread view, a text keeps the bubble thread, a call and a meeting keep their own detail panels, and a note opens exactly as written, formatting included. A system event names something that lives on another tab, such as a stage, a condition or a submission, so it links out to where that record actually sits rather than duplicating it here.
What Is New Since You Last Looked
Opening the timeline from the deal's preview panel draws a line under whatever you'd already seen the last time you looked, with everything above it marked new. The Overview tab itself never draws that line. It's a page you might leave open all day, and marking rows read just because they scrolled past would not reflect what you actually read.
Why the Timeline Cannot Be Edited
Every row here is either a message already sent, a note already saved, or a fact the system already recorded elsewhere, so there's nothing to edit from the trail itself. Composing a new message happens from the inbox or the hero's Message Client button, which opens the same composer rather than giving the file a second, weaker one. The same check runs on the server for anything sent automatically or in bulk, so the trail can't end up showing a message no client actually received.
What to Do Next
- Write Notes on a Deal to leave something for your team on this file.
- Track a Lender's Response to see what a submission's own row on this trail links back to.
- Tour the Deal Record to see where the timeline sits among the deal's other tabs.
