Add Follow-ups to a Campaign

Send up to three follow-up messages after a campaign, only to the people who haven't replied.

Open Pulse in BrokerPlus

Most people don't answer the first message. Follow-ups let you write the nudge once, when you build the campaign, and BrokerPlus sends it later to everyone who still hasn't replied. Anyone who wrote back is left alone.

Adding a Follow-up

In the composer, the Follow-ups step sits between writing the message and reviewing it. Choose Add Follow-up and fill in:

  • Days to Wait: how long after the previous message this one goes out, from 1 to 60 days.
  • Send To: Anyone Who Hasn't Replied, or for email, the narrower Anyone Who Hasn't Opened.
  • Subject: for email. Leave it blank and the follow-up uses your original subject with "Re:" in front, so it reads as part of the same conversation.
  • Message: what the follow-up says. The same personalization tokens work here as in the first message.

You can add up to three follow-ups. The step is optional; skip it and the campaign goes out once, as before.

How the Timing Works

Each person's clock starts from their own previous message, not from when the campaign started. If your send is spread over several days, someone who received the first message on day three gets their follow-up three days later than someone who received it on day one. That keeps the gap between messages the same for everyone.

Before each follow-up goes out, BrokerPlus checks again. Anyone who has replied since, by email or by text, is dropped, and so is anyone who has unsubscribed. Opting out of the first message opts a person out of every follow-up after it.

Where Follow-ups Land

An email follow-up is sent as a reply in the same thread as the original, so your contact sees one conversation in their inbox rather than a new message from you each time. A text follow-up arrives in the same text conversation.

Follow-ups and Repeating Campaigns

A campaign can have follow-ups or repeat on a schedule, not both. If you've added follow-ups, set Repeat to Send Once; the review step tells you if the two are in conflict. See Repeat a Campaign on a Schedule if a regular cadence is what you're after.

Changing or Stopping Them

You can edit follow-ups while the campaign is still a draft. Once it's sent or scheduled, they're locked in.

On the campaign's page, the Follow-ups card shows each one with its status, when it goes out, and how many it has reached so far. Open one to see exactly who received it. Stop Follow-ups cancels every follow-up that hasn't gone out yet. The ones already sent stay as they are.

What to Do Next

Keeps track of what you have already been through.
