Write Notes on a Deal

Keep notes on a file, give them a type, pin the ones that matter, and mention a teammate.

Open Mortgages in BrokerPlus

A deal's notes are shared with everyone on its team - a running record of what happened, what was decided, and who said what, without leaving the file to write it down somewhere else.

Where Notes Live on a Deal

Overview carries a full Notes card. Every other tab keeps a collapsed strip along the right edge showing how many notes exist; expand it and the same workspace opens beside whatever you're working on, so a note taken while you're deep in the application doesn't send you back to Overview first. On a narrow screen the strip becomes a single row that opens the same workspace in a full-screen panel instead.

Writing a Note and Choosing Its Type

Type into the composer at the top of the thread - it takes formatting, links and images, and Add note files it. Every note is filed under a type: a broker or team vocabulary like "Call" or "Condition," shown as a coloured chip beside the composer and on each note afterward. Pick a type before you write and, if your team has given that kind a starting template, the composer seeds itself from it; switching types mid-draft never overwrites text you've already typed.

Pinning, Reacting, and Replying

Press the pin icon on any note to keep it at the top of the thread, marked with a Pinned badge - useful for the one fact everyone on the file needs to see first. The smiley icon opens a small set of quick reactions, and pressing one you've already left removes it. The reply arrow opens a threaded reply under a note, one level deep, for a quick answer that doesn't need its own entry in the trail.

Mentioning a Teammate

Type @ followed by a name inside the composer to open a picker of teammates on this deal, then choose one to insert a mention. The person you mention is notified, which is the fastest way to pull a colleague's attention onto one specific note rather than the whole file.

Searching and Filtering Notes

The search box above the thread filters notes by what they say. Beside it, a type filter narrows the thread to one kind at a time, and each entry in that list shows how many notes it holds - useful on a file with a long history where you only want, say, the condition notes.

Managing Your Note Types

Press Note types above the thread to open the type manager. It's a master/detail editor: pick a type on the left, then edit its name, colour and starting template on the right. New type adds one to your team's vocabulary, shared everywhere deal notes are written. Every type but the built-in General one can be removed - existing notes filed under it keep their full history, a removed type just stops appearing as an option going forward. A changed template only affects notes written after the change.

What to Do Next

  • Read the Deal Activity Timeline to see a note alongside everything else that happened on the file.
  • Tour the Deal Record to see where the notes card sits among the deal's other sections.
  • Set up your team's note types before a deal needs one, so the first note on a file isn't also the first time anyone picks a colour for "Condition."

Keeps track of what you have already been through.
